SLOB started sharing music at a young age. After continually taking records to kids
birthday parties (being more interested in dancing than playing pass the parcel) and
leaving them behind, his parents made him scribble his initials in crayon on their
beloved 45’s so that they were more easily found post jelly & ice cream. Losing records
seems to be a skill he learned at an early age.
Getting paid to play music began in ’88 when he teamed up with a schoolfriend with a
mobile DJ system, playing records to anyone that would listen in his hometown of
Bracknell. From ’89 to ’92, the story is about being in the right place (Berkshire) at the
right time (Acid House). Enjoying a successful career as DJ and party animal, holding
residency at Rendezvous (The Park, Kensington) and playing guest spots at various
nights in London, Nottingham, Leeds, Milton Keynes, Brighton, and anywhere his mates
would drive him. After moving to Australia at the end of ’92 and a successful stint in the
Sydney Scene, he hung up his headphones and got a proper job.
Since then, and throughout the years, he has dipped his toes into and out of the scene
as a DJ, promoter, and producer. He has produced music for some advertising
companies, a couple of low-budget movies and TV shows, as well as music for The
Screen Producers Association of Australia. Handpicked to DJ at the Salvador Dali (Dali
Universe) exhibition in Sydney, he has released remixes and original tracks on Made in
Space Records.
Now, where are those crayons?!
