London House Cats Choir – Biography 2020
The London House Cats Choir (LHCC) is a contemporary choir using House Music at its core. Founded in 2014, This choir sings House in a House Music style using a rich blend of gospel-based 3-part harmonies; soprano, alto and tenor. The choirs’ vocals are blended into a contemporary ‘dance music’ sound.
London House Cats Choir was founded in 2014, and is the brain-child of Choir Director Kayo Anosike, a professional Singer & DJ. Starting her career as ‘Dionne’ touring Europe with the musical “Hair”, Kayo went on to sing with The Original USA Gospel Choir – a tour that led her to sing across Europe. Through this tour Kayo supported Randy Crawford, Dionne Warwick and Brian Adams whilst singing for the late pope at the Vatican 2000 Concert.
As a DJ, Kayo founded Junction 14 Sound System, leading her to grace various dance floors from London to Germany and then to Miami for the Miami Winter Conference. On returning from tour-life in 2005, the British Academy of New Music recognised Kayo’s aptitude for teaching and coaching. Music soon merged with education as Kayo became Head of Music at London’s Kensington and Chelsea College. With her rich combination of expertise and creativity, it was only a matter of time before Kayo’s talents would coalesce to create the London House Cats Choir.
The London House Cats Choir has performed at a variety of iconic and unique gigs, including the opening show for BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, the opening of the East Court at Alexandra Palace and Burning Man’s annual “London Decompression”. This is a choir that loves collaborating with producers and contemporary artists, which have included Yam Who? with Amp Fiddler (1960 What), Alana Maria (Burnin’ – Yam Who? Jazzier Remix ) Heavytrackerz (Feel the Love) and Deep Sea Cosmonauts (Starship).
The choir members celebrate their undeniable passion for House Music and yet are also able to adapt to various influences, London House Cats Choir have been known to embrace various genres and influences which has led them to support various musical projects such as the recent album launch for 6-piece pop band, Lucky Soul and providing a vocal fusion using Arabic influences for up and coming female R&B artist, LKD.
Within their joy of singing and performing, London House Cat Choir members form a unique supportive community, giving the group a lot of heart and soul that vibrates through and beyond their vocal sound to become part of their ethos and brand identity.
