Kenne Blessin: an Artist, Producer, Videographer & Songwriter.
Born in Kingston on February 11th 1980 with a natural gift, Kenroy Dacosta Carney (a.k.a. Kenne Blessin) began his musical journey…
Though his singing started in church & on the streets, Kenne was officially introduced to music by his family who had set up a group called ‘LIONs DEN’. It was during this time that he experienced both recording in a studio and performing live on stage.
Though Kenne was raised in (Yallahs) St. Thomas, Jamaica, he migrated to Antigua in 1999 and has been a citizen there ever since. It was here that Kenne won the Gem FM ‘Caribbean Star Search’ and also where he was first introduced to Soca music. Following his successful debut groovy tune, ‘My Love’ (produced by Da Bhann), Kenne and the group proceeded to tour different Continents and around the Caribbean….increasing Kenne’s passion and love for his craft.
Kenne’s music was been well-received in Antigua and it was there that he performed both as the opening act but also sharing the stage with some well-known artists. He worked with ‘The Manhattans’, ‘Percy Sledge’, ‘The Kinks’, ‘KC & JoJo’, ‘Genuine’, ‘Faith Evans’, ‘Third World’, ‘Maxi Priest’ and ‘Shaggy’. It was also whilst in Antigua that Kenne was given the opportunity to join ‘Itchy Feet Band’, a local rock group as their lead singer. At this time, Kenne learnt to respect and embrace other music genres including Pop, R&B & Alternative music and at that time realized how versatile his ‘honey’ voice was. These new styles along with his love of Reggae and Soca, all enhance his performance today and make the stage his own personal backyard.
Kenne Blessin promoted and toured within North America, Atlanta, Tampa, North Carolina, Philadelphia and New Jersey. He opened for ‘Freddie Macgregor’, ‘Morgan Heritage’, ‘Machel Montano’, ‘Edwin Yearwood’, ‘Kerwin Du Bios’, ‘Burning Flame’s and other well-knowns artists. He featured on the 2012 VP Records Lovers Rock album ‘Faraway’ featuring Winsome, Produced by Anthony Brightly (puresilk) – and has recorded cover versions of the Simply Red classic ‘Holding Back the Years’ and Ed Sheeran’s ‘Perfect’, (both produced by Hugh Campbell). The success of these tracks is apparent by the climbing views and positive comments on social media sites including YouTube and Spotify.
Kenne Blessin’s unstoppable passion for music brought him to London in 2013 where he paved his way through the UK and Europe working with different producers and thus increasing his music resume. Since then Kenne has lived predominately in Atlanta, working on solo projects and performing at both Carnival shows and at local venues.
During October 2014 Kenne released his Reggae Album ‘Get Up and Go’ produced by Christopher Dane Duffus of Goldmind production. The album features Kenne Blessin’ infectious Reggae vibes and also his official music video track, ‘Searching’…which has already received upwards of 16,000 views on YouTube.
Kenne worked collaboratively with well-known hip hop artist Lil Zane and featured on Johnny Roxx & Alekk single ‘Murdera’ which reached number 1 on a Swiss Chart and was played on BBC Radio. During recent years, Kenne has been invited as a return guest to perform the large stage with Johnny Roxx at Zurich’s Holi Festival.
Kenne has overcome a recent car accident but it was during the recovering months that allowed him more time in the studio to write new material but also discover a new skill. Kenne has begun producing videos including tracks ‘We Pray’ and ‘Don’t Lose Your Way’ from his album which have led to outside video project requests. He also recently released an EP entitled ‘Millions’ which is being well received globally and predominantly within his birth nation, Jamaica.
